Central Park
Whether youre from New York or not, youve likely heard of Central Park. In the heart of one of the busiest places on the East Coast, you can actually escape from the deafening city noises. Once you step into Central Park, it is almost as if youre in another place and the silence is almost dreamlike.
Tourists in Manhattan will experience Central Park with a horse-drawn carriage ride throughout the year. They may marvel at the zoo or watch ice skaters zipping in happy little circles. The tourists are usually only aware of the main attractions of Central Park. The local residents are the people who not only know Central Park inside and out, but take advantage of its serenity to escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Each morning and evening, the park is filled with individuals jogging or speed walking. They each have a particular destination and it is hard to believe that in the midst of one of the busiest cities in the country, there is a place that you can relax and get outdoors. When the weather is nice, youll often find families having an outdoor picnic, aspiring artists and students drawing the scenery or doing their homework in the grass. In the midst of a snowstorm, youll find couples snuggling together while taking a romantic walk through the snow or children sledding in the fresh snow.
For locals there is always something to be doing in Central Park.
Interestingly enough, 6% of Manhattan is taken up by Central Park. That equates to 843 acres of things to do and places to relax. Every inch of those 843 acres was carefully planned and designed. Each attraction exists because of very careful and elaborate planning. There are two swimming pools and skating rinks that are open to the public. There are stages for performances and gardens for admiring. Children can release some energy on the playgrounds. You can ride the carousel and let your children experience petting various animals in the Childrens Zoo. If you venture to the Loch and Tourists have often marveled at how some of the wildlife even exists with such a busy city surrounding Central Park.
Though millions of tourists visit Manhattan each and every year, many of them walk right past different points of Central Park without even realizing that they are so close to one of the most beautiful parks they could ever imagine. Though Central Park was intricately planned and designed, it is not overbearing or incredibly noticeable. Of course, once you enter into any inlet of the park, you will find yourself escaping from the chaos of the city and wonder why you hadnt noticed it before.
