Hanging Door Beads
When I see hanging door beads, I always think back to college. Back then, unconventional decoration was the thing. I had a room that was dressed up to look as bizarre as I could make . I had a set of varied and unmatched hanging door beads, tinfoil on the wall, strange masks made out of discarded rubbish, and all manner of other interesting decorations. I was trying to be as different as possible back then most people were. College, after all, is time to assert your individualy and find your identy.
That is why I was so surprised when I saw how sedate and professional hanging bead doors can look. I was actually in my therapist's office when I first saw . He does all he can to defuse the secretiveness of therapy by using interesting and unconventional decorations that open up the room. The great thing about hanging doorway beads is that they close off the room adequately well whout making you feel completely closed off. There's still some sense of openness because you can see through between the beads into the waing room. Of course, there is also a screen in front of the hanging bead doorway that can be put up when there are other patients in the waing room. That helps to preserve confidentialy, muffling the conversation sufficiently that other people can't hear .
I decided to use the hanging door beads in my house. I have had a lot of trouble with dividing up the space, and they seemed like the solution. I don't want the kchen, for example, to be totally closed off from the living room, but at the same time I don't want to be totally open. The same goes for the hallway between the den and living room. We are usually very quiet people, so there isn't a lot of noise made inside the living room. Nonetheless, the den requires a ltle more quiet and privacy. Hanging door beads is definely a great solution.
I have always liked ambiguous types of dividers. Sometimes, I use bamboo screens to turn one room into two when I'm trying out new layouts for my house. Other times, I use temporary walls Of the floor-to-ceiling divider type. I think that hanging door beads are my favore method so far. They function like a door whout closing things off the way a door does.
