Wooden Shutters
People put so much energy into their home, often completing que expensive projects just to make things look better. They build wooden decks and put up fences, repaint the exteriors of their house and install windows. Often, however, the smaller decorative accents are ignored in favor of bigger, more expensive projects. Believe or not, a nice set of wooden shutters can do more to enhance the look of your house in some cases than an entire new paint job.
Wooden window shutters are great because they can be used to decorate both the interior and exterior of your house. Of course, before installing interior and exterior wooden shutters is important to think about what you want to use them for. Some exterior shutters are merely decorative. Originally, however, sturdy wooden shutters served a more important purpose. Storm shutters could be put up in the event of howling winds as a way to protect the windows from possible flying branches and other debris. Although this usage is less common nowadays, can still be a handy option in the case of a freak storm. with interior wooden shutters, you get something that is guaranteed to be functional. One of the great things about wood shutters is that they have the functionaly of Venetian blinds, with better durabily and appearance. Venetian blinds start to look very soiled very easily, and can be hard to clean. Interior shutters, on the other hand, can be painted in bright colors so that they preserve their appearance even when a ltle dust gets in them. Wooden shutters come in all sorts of designs, and can go with any decorative motif that you can think of. You can even combine them with draperies or shades to create a more complex, layered effect.
Then again, there's something to be said for not planning and just going with the wooden shutters that look the best to you at the moment. After all, mounting shutters is not very difficult. If you aren't very handy with the hardware, you can easily hire a handyman to do for you, and the whole thing will only take an hour or so. Why not look at the different designs and see what appeals to you. Even if you plan on exterior shutters, you might find an interior design that looks better. You never know until you look, as my mom used to always say.
