Take Care With Your Bow And Arrow Set

Though you probably think of modern hunters as those that use rifles and shotguns, there are many that love to go out into the woods with the bow and arrow. They may like the challenge of using this, and they may also think it gives the game more of a fighting chance. Though it does take skill and concentration to use a rifle or shotgun, it does take much more to use the bow with arrows to take down your game of choice. Just remember to be careful with what you have.

Most with rifles and other guns know to lock them up. At least, they should know how important that is. Children are especially vulnerable to gun wounds because they have a hard time keeping their hand to themselves. That is why locking them up is essential, and also, they should have good lessons about gun safety while they are still very young, and those lessons should be repeated often. When it comes to the bow and arrow, however, some forget to take the same precautions. That is when anyone can get hurt.

My dad uses both the gun and the bow and arrow to hunt. He has the guns locked up well, but left his bow and arrow set laying around in a room that was supposed to be off limits to his grandchildren. The problem with that was that they did not realize it was off limits, or they really didnt care. They went in anyway. When my dad went in there, they had picked up the very sharp arrow heads and had thrown them into the wall. Not only did he have wall damage, he could have had two very hurt grandchildren. He has since locked the arrows up.

When it comes to skill with the bow and arrow, you do have to take your time to make sure you know what you are doing. Once you have mastered how to load and shoot the bow and arrow, you can then work on figuring out how to take your best shots. Aim is a problem, as the arrows often fall in flight. That means you have to learn when to aim right at your target, and when you have to lead the flight of the arrow. That means you will have to aim above the target to hit it on cue. With some practice, you will do that second nature as you enjoy the challenge of hunting with the fast and powerful rifle or shotgun that you may have used in the past.
